Project 3

In project 3 each student had the choice to pick a “psychopath” to do research on. I picked Lyle and Erik Menendez and so did 2 other students in my class although this assignment was mostly individual work. To figure out weather or not the serial killer was a psychopath we used a psychopathy checklist. The Menendez brothers were classified as moderate psychopaths. Throughout the research of the two brothers I found out a lot about their background such as their crimes or lives in general. With all of our research gathered we then wrote a research paper. Our “test” was a surprise on a day called pop day. My colleagues that chose the same serial killer to do research on as me paired up with me for pop day. Pop day was a presentation on the serial killers background  without looking on the screen. A big part of that presentation was to see whether or not the serial killer you did research on is a psychopath. Two habit of minds demonstrated during this project was persisting and showing initiative. Persisting was demonstrated because I persisted through the slides while practicing no matter how much times I messed up. Showing initiative was demonstrated because I had to show initiative to get my group assigned to each slide during the time we had to practice. Persisting and showing initiative is a big habit of mind not only in life but in school as well because in order to get a job done you must show initiative to even start and you have to persist to overcome something difficult.
